Stephen Smith
Treasurer
Stephen Smith serves as the Treasurer of Healthy Kids of Nevada Foundation, bringing hands-on experience, operational excellence, and strong community commitment.
After graduating high school in 2015, Stephen worked two years as an electrical apprentice under his father, a 40-year electrical journeyman, gaining valuable experience wiring residential homes, hospitals, and restaurants while building strong technical skills and a disciplined work ethic.
For the past 10 years, Stephen has held a key leadership role at the family business, Kids Are Us Academy, overseeing kitchen operations and managing compliance with the Federal Child and Adult Care Food Program (USDA). Under his leadership, hundreds of children have received healthy, nutritious meals daily—breakfast, lunch, dinner, and three healthy snacks. He ensures accurate meal tracking and documentation, submitting detailed reports to Food for Kids for USDA reporting. His meticulous recordkeeping has contributed to consistent 5-star inspections for the past decade, with files rated exemplary.
Having been a sixth grader when Kids Are Us Academy opened, Stephen grew up in the business and continues to serve with dedication and integrity. Beyond the food program, he helps maintain compliance with State Licensing, the Health Department, the Fire Department, QRIS standards, and other regulatory guidelines, while continuing his education at the College of Southern Nevada (CSN) and the University of Nevada, Reno. His steady leadership and genuine care for children make him highly respected by staff, families, and the children he serves.
